September's School of Music

Below are a list of studio policies.

Piano Studio Policy School Year 2020-2021

  • Lessons

Private lessons are given weekly and focus primarily on technique and repertoire as well as musicianship and creative skills. Parents are encouraged to attend these lessons with their child.

Master Classes are offered monthly in place of the private lesson the following week. Master Classes are 45 minutes and always on the 2nd Saturday of each month. These classes give the students an opportunity to learn in a group setting and focus on topics such as theory, rhythm, listening skills, music history, performing, and other music enrichment activities. Missed Master Classes will not be made up.

Students will benefit greatly from regular attendance to both private lessons and Master Classes. Please make sure they are on time in order to reap the full benefits of your lesson time. If you are unable to attend a lesson for any reason, please give as much advanced notice as possible. Please be aware that because our studio runs on full capacity, we will not be able to make up any private lessons. No refunds will be given for missed lessons.

Throughout the year, opportunities for fun, musical enrichment projects are given. These, coupled with their regular lessons, are what keep students excited about learning.

  • Practice

Regular home practice is essential for student success. Ideally students should aim for at least 5 days of practice each week. Parental involvement is essential for student progress. Please help your child establish and stick to a practice routine and see that practice time is free from distractions. If you are the parent of an elementary age student, please plan to sit with you child for at least a portion of their daily practice time.

  • Tuition and Fees

Tuition for the school year include 38 weeks of instruction. Tuition may be paid by the semester or in monthly installments. Students should plan to commit to lessons for the full school year. If unforeseen circumstances require a student to terminate lessons mid-year, one month’s paid notice is required.

Lesson rates for this year will be $85 if paying in monthly installments (due on the 7th day of each month.) and $320 if paying by the semester  (due on the 15th day of the first month of the semester.)

The year is comprised of a Fall and Winter semester, (Sep.- Dec.) and (Jan.-Apr.) And a Spring Term from (May.-Jun.) There are 4 monthly installments due in each semester and 2 due in the Spring Term. Therefore, if paying monthly, a payment will be due each month of the school year.

A $10 late fee will be assessed on all payments made after the 15th of each month.

  • Inclement Weather

In case of inclement weather related concerns, please call to check if the studio will still open. If a student does not show up while the class is still on, you will miss that lesson without a make-up.
